Gas prices hit $4.49 in parts of Fort Worth on Wednesday, smashing record highs
Gas prices in Fort Worth continue to soar Wednesday, up more than 8 cents overnight to yet another record high of $4.37 a gallon on average.
Prices have leaped 20 cents in the past week and 65 cents in the past month, according to AAA.
Drivers in North Texas are paying more for gasoline on average than much of Texas. The statewide average price Wednesday was $4.27.
On the north side of Fort Worth, regular gas was selling at $4.49 per gallon at some stations, according to GasBuddy. Most stations on Wednesday morning were at $4.39.
Nearly every state is seeing $4 gasoline, primarily due to the high cost of crude oil.
“The high cost of oil, the key ingredient in gasoline, is driving these high pump prices for consumers,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “Even the annual seasonal demand dip for gasoline during the lull between spring break and Memorial Day, which would normally help lower prices, is having no effect this year.”
