Outstanding citations? This community event in Fort Worth can help you resolve them
An event called Court in the Community will be held for those with outstanding Fort Worth citations to resolve their cases without fear of arrest.
Court in the Community is for Class C criminal cases filed with the Fort Worth Municipal Court such as traffic, ordinance and penal code citations.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon May 21 at Altamesa Church of Christ, at 4600 Altamesa Blvd. in Fort Worth.
City officials said in a news release that some people with outstanding cases may be eligible for alternatives such as community service or a reduced fine based on their ability to pay.
Fort Worth EnVision Center and Community Action Partners will also be on site to provide assistance for rent, past due rent, utilities and past due utility payments. Job skills training and employment assistance will also be offered at the event.
Legal Aid of North West Texas will offer walk-up services at the Court in the Community event that includes general civil intake, including family law, wills and estates, landlord and tenant cases, public benefits, federal tax, bankruptcy and property matters.
Another walk-up service will be offered by Goodwill North Central Texas at no cost. They will have employment opportunities, job placement services, one-on-one career counseling, and job readiness skills training including resume writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques.
Overdue citations can also be brought to municipal court locations. Fort Worth Municipal Court, located at 1000 Throckmorton St., is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
