Missing fisherman found in Parker County lake
The body of a 20-year-old fisherman who fell into Sunshine Lake Wednesday night while trying to put on a life jacket was recovered Thursday morning, police said.
Abdalla Busoul of Fort Worth had been fishing with another man in an inflatable dingy at the lake Wednesday evening when he stood up to put on a life jacket and lost his balance, Weatherford police say.
“The victim was reportedly going to jump in to cool off,” Cmdr. Chris Crawford stated in a news release Thursday afternoon about the body’s recovery.
The other man jumped in to help Busoul, who could not swim, but neither man could get into a life jacket. At the same time, the dingy drifted toward a bank, police said.
The men yelled for help, and a man on the bank jumped into the dingy and went to rescue them, police said. By the time he reached them, Busoul was out of sight.
Weatherford police and firefighters were alerted to the possible drowning about 8:35 p.m.
They searched the lake Wednesday night along with a Fort Worth police helicopter, but suspended the search a few hours later. The lake is located in Cartwright Park, at 100 Cartwright Park Road.
Thursday morning, game wardens with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department joined in the search.
At about 9:50 a.m., Busoul’s body was discovered underwater by Weatherford police and fire department divers.
Crawford said there are no signs that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.
“At this point in the investigation, all of the facts indicate that the incident appears to be an accidental drowning,” Crawford stated in the release.
