Fort Worth, Arlington firefighters battle apartment building fire in south Fort Worth
Fort Worth and Arlington firefighters fought an apartment fire in south Fort Worth on Sunday night, the cause of which is under investigation.
The fire started at about 8:30 p.m.. and was declared “under control” within 45 minutes, but the fire continued to burn through the apartment building in the 7200 block of Park West Circle until at least 11:30 p.m., according to the Fort Worth Fire Department’s Twitter. The apartment complex is near Laurel Land Memorial Park and South Meadows Crossing.
Everyone at the complex was evacuated from the building, and the electricity was cut off to 24 units in the building. As of 10 p.m., 90 firefighters were at the building as the fire spread through the second and third floors and onto the roof.
Three apartment units were heavily damaged in the fire and one person was treated at the scene for minor injuries, the fire department said.
The Arlington Fire Department assisted the Fort Worth Fire Department. As of 11:30 p.m., two Fort Worth Fire Department units were still at the apartment fire. According to the fire department’s Twitter, the cause of the fire was under investigation.
