A man is dead after a vehicle crashed into a pole on West Loop 820 South at Team Ranch Road in Fort Worth on Wednesday afternoon, according to MedStar and police spokesmen.

Police said southbound lanes of West Loop 820 South between Team Ranch and Highway 377 are closed while the Texas Department of Transportation investigates the damage done after the man’s car went off the roadway and struck a large metal anchor pole.

Police said TxDOT is also considering the implications of high wind speeds that might affect a large sign that was damaged in the crash.

The name of the man killed in the crash will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after next of kin have been notified.
