Man hit with bat, shot in face with flare gun outside Fort Worth gas station, police say
A man was taken to a nearby hospital after he was shot in the face with a flare gun and hit with a bat in an assault outside a gas station early Saturday, Fort Worth police said.
The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. in west Fort Worth.
Officers were at the QT gas station at 2800 Alta Mere Drive when they were approached by a man who was bleeding from the face, neck and chest, according to a police report. The man told officers he had been shot in the face.
Investigators determined assailants had punched and kicked the victim, struck him with a bat, and shot him with the flare gun, the report says.
One suspect, Christopher Wayne Ford, 40, of Fort Worth, was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the report.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
