Trash, Trinity Metro, warming stations: Fort Worth updates services amid wintry weather
Fort Worth residents with trash and recycling pick-ups for Thursday and Friday will be allowed to put extra bags out during regularly scheduled pickups Feb. 10 and Feb. 11, and Trinity Metro has suspended all bus routes for the rest of Friday into Saturday, according to the city website.
Trinity Metro will continue evaluating road conditions and later announce plans for Sunday, according to the city’s website.
Residents who did not have their trash picked up during their regular schedule on Thursday or Friday will need to place extra bags next to their carts on their regular pickup days next week, according to the city. Drop-off locations will be closed Saturday and reopen Monday, while no yard-waste collection will be performed next week.
The city said it is continuing to operate warming stations at its 19 community centers during normal business hours. The city said it will have plenty of seating and warmth for anybody who needs it.
Roads are still hazardous due to ice and will likely remain so until at least Saturday afternoon. Anything that melted during the day Friday is expected to re-freeze, possibly even creating more dangerous roads than before.
Weather conditions are expected to improve over the weekend and into next week, when highs are expected in the mid to upper 50s.
