Air, land search continue for kayaker in Fort Worth river
Air and land searches continued Monday afternoon for a kayaker who fell into the river in west Fort Worth on Saturday morning, fire officials said.
The dive team’s search for the man was suspended Monday, Battalion Chief Richard Harrison said, but crews continued to use land vehicles and a police helicopter.
Authorities did not release the name of the man, who was last seen on the West Fork of the Trinity River.
The search was called off at 5 p.m. Monday. Harrison said he didn’t know if the search would resume on Tuesday.
Authorities have alerted officials in Irving, Arlington, Euless, Grand Prairie and Dallas, which are downstream from Fort Worth.
The victim and another man were kayaking on the West Fork near the Westworth Village and Fort Worth border when they went into the water shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters began searching Saturday morning with a dive team, along with Texas Department of Wildlife game wardens in boats
On Sunday, a dive team returned and more than 15 firefighters searched on foot and in vehicles along the riverbanks. Game wardens continued to help.
