State police chiefs association recognizes Tarrant Criminal District Attorney’s Office

The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office has named a “Recognized Law Enforcement Agency” by the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation, the first DA’s office in the state to receive the recognition.

The recognition, given to the office’s investigators, is based on the the office’s participation in a voluntary program in which agencies show they comply with more than 160 best business practices for law enforcement in Texas, according to a statement released Tuesday by the District Attorney’s Office.

The best practices were developed by Texas law enforcement professionals. They include use of force, protection of citizen rights, vehicle pursuits, property and evidence management, and patrol and investigative operations, according to the Texas Police Chiefs Association.

“I am very proud of the hard work by investigators in this office, who completed all the requirements needed to gain this recognition,” Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Sharen Wilson said in the statement. “Our office upholds these high standards of the law enforcement profession.”

This recognition was presented to the Criminal District Attorney’s Office during Tuesday’s Tarrant County commissioners meeting. It lasts four years. The recognition lasts four years. The investigative division will have to submit annual reports showing continued compliance.

The recognition program began in 2006. , requiring law enforcement agencies seeking this achievement to conduct critical self-reviews of their department’s policies, procedures, facilities, and operations.
