Fort Worth police in standoff as person with mental health concerns barricades in home
Police in Fort Worth were in a standoff with a person with mental health concerns Thursday night after responding to a call of a domestic disturbance in the 3300 block of Las Vegas Trail, according to a police spokesman.
The person was barricaded with a weapon inside a townhome in the area, leading to a large police response. SWAT responded to the scene.
“The subject sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and is not expected to survive the injury,” police said in an update Friday morning.
Officers responded to the call around 5:40 p.m. Thursday and were on the scene for several hours. A police incident detail report, which gives preliminary information on developing situations, listed more than 20 units responding to the scene.
After hearing a single gunshot, responding law enforcement were able to verify the person had shot themselves. Officers began clearing the scene around midnight.
