A GoFundMe for the family of an 11-year-old boy who died Tuesday after being hit by an oncoming vehicle on West Loop 820 near Camp Bowie West Boulevard has been started by friends.

On Wednesday, the verified GoFundMe was created to help the mother of Chris, whose full name has not yet been released by authorities. His mother has three other children and three stepchildren, according to the fundraiser description.

Lexis Luera, the fundraiser organizer, wrote that Chris loved football and had a personality that would “light up a room.”

“I am asking any donations at all that could help [Chris’s mom] out towards his funeral and expenses,” Luera wrote in the description. “Most importantly we ask for prayers please for this family during this time.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, $3,860 had been raised toward the goal of $5,000.

A Fort Worth police spokesman said Chris was one of three children who were trying to cross the freeway on foot when the accident occurred about 5:45 p.m. The driver who hit the boy stopped, and no charges have been filed.
