The road closings just keep coming as part of the reconstruction of Interstate 35W.

The latest will be from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday on I-35W at N.E. 28th Street, just north of downtown Fort Worth.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35W will be closed and traffic will be directed to the service roads. All lanes of N.E. 28th will also be closed and eastbound traffic will be directed to Northside Drive and westbound traffic will be routed to 33rd Street.

A 6.5-mile portion of I-35W from north of Interstate 30 to just north of Loop 820 is considered one of the state's most congested roadways, so expect major delays with the road closings.

The best option: Avoid both roadways.

The work is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project, which will rebuild the main lanes, add toll lanes and modernize ramps and access roads along the busy stretch of freeway from downtown Fort Worth to North Tarrant Parkway, just past the U.S. 287 exit.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
