Fort Worth resident wins $2.5 million after playing scratch-off Texas lottery game

A Fort Worth resident won a $2.5 million prize after playing the lottery scratch-off game Instant Millionaire.

The winner, who decided to stay anonymous, bought the winning ticket at a CEFCO Food Store, located at 2016 S. 1st St. in Temple, Texas Lottery officials announced Thursday.

The odds of winning any prize in the game are 1 in 3.20 and the ticket costs $20.

According to Texas Lottery officials, this is the seventh of 10 top prizes worth $2.5 million to be claimed in this game. Instant Millionaire offers more than $519 million in total prizes, including 40 prizes of $1 million.

The names of some winners aren’t public because of a 2017 state law that lets Texans who claim lottery prizes worth $1 million or more remain anonymous.
