Family seeks volunteers to help locate a woman missing from Fort Worth since mid-July
Search parties are being organized this weekend to look for a medically fragile woman who has been missing since July 11.
Carolyn Kay Riggins, 69, was last seen in Fort Worth at 6901 N. Beach St. She was driving a 2002 Lincoln Continental bearing a Texas license plate with the number CGB-1453, according to the Fort Worth Police Department. The Lincoln is missing a factory hubcap, authorities have said.
Morning, afternoon and evening search parties are being organized by the family through a non-profit organization Friday through Sunday, and volunteers to help with the search are being sought. Volunteers are encouraged to fill out a form available on the Finding Carolyn Facebook page to receive more information.
One of the last places the grandmother who suffers from stroke dementia was seen was at a Watauga bingo hall just after winning money, a family member said.
Fort Worth police appealed for help to locate Riggins on social media, but she is still missing.
“She had a stroke in 2009 and she lost her sense of direction,” Riggins’ daughter, Gale Williams said. “But she always called when she got lost and we would give her directions on how to get home.”
On July 11, Riggins left her cell phone at home.
Family members saw her before she went to Watauga Road Bingo that night. The bingo hall is at 6535 Watauga Road in Watauga.
“That was her hobby,” Williams said referring to playing bingo “She would go there by herself, but she loves talking to people.”
Watauga Road Bingo employees told some of Riggins’ family members that they remembered seeing her on the nights of July 10 and July 11.
“They said she had won on Friday (July 10), and won twice on that Saturday night (July 11),” Williams said.
Riggins lives in northeast Fort Worth, and she has a daughter and grandchildren living within five miles of her.
She is 5 foot 9, about 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Riggins has been entered into the TCIC/NCIC (Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center) database for a missing person report.
