If you see a Volkswagen bus in your Fort Worth neighborhood, it could mean free beer
In late April, Clay and Lina Sexauer had a problem.
Coronavirus had put their event business out of work. The couple own the Bubble Bus, a 1978 Volkswagen bus that they modified to serve beer and wine on tap. The events they had booked were canceled, but the Sexauer’s had an idea.
“We decided to get kegs of beer and drive around like the ice cream truck and give beer away,” Clay said.
On April 24, the Bubble Bus drove through the Sunset Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth giving away beer.
“People were like, ‘Hey, we love what you’re doing,’ and they just started putting some money on the inside of our bus,” Clay said.
The Bubble Bus now has a tip jar.
The Sexauers decided to use the tips to do more giveaways and had Facebook users vote on the next neighborhood to receive free beer with a visit from the Bubble Bus. As of July 6, they have made stops in more than 25 neighborhoods and added wine and popsicles to their free items.
They noted that they observe Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Laws in all their activities.
