1 critically injured, 4 others hurt in separate weekend Fort Worth fireworks mishaps
Four men and a woman suffered firework injuries over the Fourth of July weekend in Fort Worth that required they be taken to Fort Worth and Dallas hospitals, authorities said Monday.
One man was critically injured on Saturday and he was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, according to a MedStar spokesman.
A woman and a man were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for firework injuries during the holiday weekend, while two other men also were transported to Parkland for injuries, authorities said.
No other details were released on the injuries or what types of fireworks injured residents.
The injuries occurred in separate incidents in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth fire officials continued on Monday collecting firework incident statistics for the holiday weekend, so their figures were not available.
Last year, one person died from firework injuries and four others suffered serious injuries in Fort Worth, according to fire department statistics.
In 2019 during the holiday weekend, fireworks ignited five structures and caused 37 outdoor grass or trash fires.
The fireworks hotline received 1,952 complaints during the 4th of July in 2019, according to fire department statistics.
