Don’t wash your cars! Heavy rainfall, lightning in the forecast for Fort Worth area

North Texans should not wash their cars on Monday.

Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast Monday with some storms packing heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds and lots of lightning.

Weather forecasters say there’s a 60 percent chance of the wet stuff on Monday.

“We’ll have some storms move in Monday morning then we’ll get a break for several hours,” said meteorologist Jason Dunn with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth on Monday. “But we will have more storms pop up late this afternoon.”

Some parts of Tarrant County could see an inch of rain Monday morning, Dunn said.

The clouds and storms will keep temperatures down on Monday. The high should only be 89, according to the NWS in Fort Worth.

North Texans should not wash their vehicles on Tuesday either.

There’s a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday. High temperatures will once again be in the upper 80s on Tuesday.

There are no rain chances on Wednesday, when temperatures will climb back into the lower 90s during the day.

It will get hot later in the week. Temperatures on Thursday will be in the mid-90s with a heat index of 105.

Temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 90s with a heat index of 110 on Friday afternoon, according to the NWS in Fort Worth.
