Hundreds help paint ‘End Racism Now’ on downtown Fort Worth street

The words END RACISM NOW stretched out along the 800 block of Main Street in downtown Fort Worth on Saturday, painted on the pavement in giant stencil lettering.

Hundreds of participants signed their names onto the anti-racism message.

“We felt as the 13th largest city in the United States that the citizens of Fort Worth and Tarrant County should be involved in the dialogue of how to dismantle systemic racism,” said Deborah Peoples, event organizer.

The design effort was led by Fort Worth artists Letitia and Sedrick Huckaby. The water-based paint eventually will fade, Peoples said.

This message comes during several weeks of nationwide Black Lives Matter protests spurred by the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.
