Teen hit, killed by car after falling off skateboard on Fort Worth street, police say
A teen was hit and killed by a car Sunday night after she fell off her skateboard on a Fort Worth street, police said.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
The teen was identified as Destany Saenz, 15, of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Tuesday. She died from her injuries after the car ran over her, according to officials at the medical examiner’s office.
Her death was ruled an accident.
The accident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday in the 5700 block of Martin Street in southeast Fort Worth.
It was on the same street where Saenz lived, authorities said.
The victim was in the roadway after she apparently fell off her skateboard when a car traveling westbound hit her, Fort Worth police said.
The driver of a 2003 Dodge Neon did not see her in time, police said.
The skateboarder was pronounced dead at the scene.
