Single-engine plane pilot dies in crash near Fort Worth-area airport, authorities say

The pilot of a single-engine Cessna 210 died Thursday when the plane crashed in Burleson about a mile south of Fort Worth Spinks Airport, authorities said.

The aircraft burned after its impact about 3:15 p.m. near Stone Road and Abner Lee Drive.

Preliminary information suggested that the pilot was the only person on board, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

The pilot, whose gender and age authorities could not determine, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

Staff writer Gordon Dickson contributed to this report.
