A Fort Worth rector who was hospitalized after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus is improving, according to Katie Sherrod, a spokeswoman for Trinity Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Robert Pace is in good spirits.

“I do feel improvement every day, and I also am keenly aware of their prayers, for which I am truly grateful,” he said in a message to the parish. “Finally, please know that I am also praying for the wonderful people of Trinity every day, asking God’s guidance, grace, and continued blessing on this special parish.”

Pace is the first and only known case of coronavirus in Tarrant County. He attended the The Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes annual conference from Feb. 19 to Feb. 22 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Sunday worship in the building remains canceled, but Trinity will offer morning prayer at 9:30 a.m. via Facebook Live on Trinity’s Facebook Page, Sherrod said.

Trinity will have a prayer leaflet available for download on its website.

Along with canceling in-building service, Trinity Preschool’s spring break has been extended for one week. Tarrant County Public Health had determined the preschool students had no exposure to Pace and has allowed to the school to reopen.

The presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Michael Curry, has asked that churches suspend the administration of the common cup to the congregation in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, and/or to cancel in-person gatherings for public worship.
