Elderly woman dies in Fort Worth fire after firefighters find her trapped inside house

A woman pulled from a burning house in Fort Worth died on Monday night.

Firefighters arriving at a residence shrouded in heavy smoke and flames were told there was a possibility that someone was trapped inside, said Mike Drivdahl, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman.

One fire crew worked to extinguish the fire, located in the 500 block of W. Felix Street, while another crew entered the residence and searched for the resident, Drivdahl said.

Firefighters found an elderly woman in the rear of the residence and she was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, Drivdahl said. The woman died at the hospital. She was identified as Lilly Beck, 82, by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Firefighters arrived at the home shortly before 7 p.m., according to a tweet from the fire department.

Firefighters were still investigating what caused the fire.
