Fort Worth’s PantherFest features giant slide and more
Those traveling on the North Main Street bridge Saturday will be sliding instead of driving.
A 2000-foot water slide will cover a portion of the bridge during PantherFest, which will also feature music, food and beer — all from Fort Worth. The festival, which also helps mark the city’s 166th anniversary, will surround the giant slip-n-slide on the bridge just north of the Tarrant County Courthouse.
Tickets to ride the slide are already sold out.
Tents and stages went up Friday for the event, sponsored by the Trinity River Vision Authority.
Slide enthusiasts will try to break the Guinness Book of World Records mark for the longest distance traveled on a slip-and-slide in one hour Saturday afternoon, but TRVD spokesman Matt Oliver said there are plenty of other activities to keep people busy.
“There is a lot going on,” Oliver said. “It all ends with fireworks.”
The giant slide opens at 10 a.m., and festival gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Live music: 11:30 a.m.-8:45 p.m. (Panther Island Brewing Stage) and 2:45-10 p.m. (Fort Worth Harley Davidson Stage). Acts include Charla Corn, Chris Watson, and Shotgun Friday.
Admission: Free to festival. Slide is sold out.
Parking: $5 at the North Gate parking area (entrance on North Main Street) and Panther Island Pavilion (entrance at 395 Purcey Street)
