Hail, heavy rain, damaging winds. It could be another stormy week for North Texas

Mayfest is right around the corner so it’s no surprise this looks like a stormy week.

The May 5, 1995, hail storm was one of the worst to hit Tarrant County so it isn’t surprising that another stormy week is predicted.

There is a 40 percent chances of storms Tuesday and 60 percent on Wednesday. Wednesday is the greatest concern for the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the Storm Prediction Center listing North Texas under a slight risk for severe storms.

“Hail and damaging winds will be the greatest concern but we cannot rule out an isolated tornado,” said National Weather Service meteorpologist Patricia Sanchez.

Forecasters are predicting 1 to 2 inches of rainfall for DFW but there is some uncertainty about where the heaviest rain will fall.

“There’s some potential for heavy rain just south and east of DFW but this will be a multiday event so the forecast is very conditional to what happens the day before,” Sanchez said.
