Police evacuate Benbrook hotel during standoff with bank robbery suspect

Benbrook police arrested a bank robbery suspect following a standoff at a local hotel Friday night, police said.

On Friday night, police followed a man who is suspected of a series of bank robberies in Irving, Fort Worth, and Southlake, FBI Dallas spokeswoman Melinda Urbina said.

The man, whose name was not released by police, barricaded himself in a hotel room at the Days Inn, Urbina said.

Guests were evacuated from the hotel and a standoff began, she said.

At about 10 p.m., the standoff ended when the man was safely arrested. No shots were fired and the man was taken to the hospital to receive medical attention.

Police did not have information on the man’s condition on Saturday afternoon.
