This Fort Worth purse thief knew he was caught on camera, so he gave it a cheery wave

Police released video on social media Wednesday of a man they say walked into an open garage in north Fort Worth and stole a woman’s purse on Nov. 23.

He seems to be aware he’s been caught on camera, even giving it a friendly wave.

The incident happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Cushing Drive in north Fort Worth. Police did not immediately provide the block number for the crime.

In the video, a black man wearing an NBA All-Star jersey with the name “Bryant” on the back parks a dented gray Honda sedan with a spare on the front right tire and a sunroof.

After getting out and looking around, he spots the security camera, waves at it, and proceeds out of frame, where police say he entered a garage and a vehicle parked inside to take a purse containing cash and credit cards.

Police did not immediately say how much the stolen items are worth.

Police estimate the suspect to be in his 30s. Anyone with information is asked to call 817-392-3183.
