Remember winter? It’s coming back. Frigid temperatures will be here soon in North Texas
Remember that warm Saturday afternoon?
Well, forget it.
A cold front arrived Sunday in North Texas, bringing with it north winds and cold temperatures.
“It’s going to be a windy day,” said meteorologist Patricia Sanchez with the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth on Sunday in a telephone interview referring to Sunday. “At least the front is dry. No rain.”
But it will not be a good day for new hair styles or raking leaves.
The NWS office in Fort Worth has issued a wind advisory in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday because northwest winds will increase into the 25 to 30 mph range with wind gusts to near 45 mph.
A wind advisory means sustained winds of at least 20 to 30 mph are expected Sunday. Forecasters say winds this strong can make driving difficult and boaters should use extra caution when on area lakes. Residents may want to take action to secure trash cans, lawn furniture and other lightweight outdoor objects.
Elevated fire weather conditions will exist west of a line from Gatesville to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to Bonham.
Temperatures also will continue to fall. The area reached its high for the day just after midnight when the temperatures was at 61 degrees. At 8:50 a.m., it was 57.
North Texans will wake up Monday to frigid temperatures. The low is expected at 32 with a wind chill of 28. The high for Monday will be in the lower 50s.
More cold temperatures will be around on Tuesday morning. The low will be around 33 with a wind chill of 29, according to the NWS office in Fort Worth.
It will begin to warm up by Tuesday afternoon.
Rain chances return to the forecast on Friday as forecasters are calling for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
