A woman who said she was called to have her vehicle’s interlock device checked was instead raped by the technician, she alleges in a lawsuit filed this week in Dallas.

The unidentified woman, who was on probation, claimed that a technician she called “Miguel” fraudulently obtained her phone number, sexually harassed her and then lured to her to his place of business near closing time.

Because she was on probation, the woman had a machine attached to her vehicle that controlled when she could operate the vehicle. The man accused of raping her was a technician at Draeger Inc. who serviced her interlock device.

The woman, known as “Jane Doe” in the lawsuit, is asking for at least $200,000 in damages.

One of Draeger’s specialties is servicing and selling the interlock devices, according to its website. Draeger Inc. has contracted with Tarrant County in the past, business records show. Draeger Inc. and the Tarrant County Community Supervision and Corrections Department did not immediately respond to inquiries about the lawsuit.

The woman said a Draeger employee who called himself Miguel got her phone number without her knowledge or permission and started sending inappropriate messages pertaining to sexual information, the lawsuit stated.

The man also let her know that he wanted to have sex with her, the lawsuit said. And then Miguel, who is also referred to as “John Doe” in the lawsuit, set an appointment to service her interlock device at about 5:50 p.m. at closing time, when he knew that other people would not be around, the lawsuit states.

“When the plaintiff arrived, John Doe proposed sex in a very forceful way to the plaintiff,” the lawsuit stated. “When the plaintiff rejected him, John Doe proceeded to rape her.”

It is unclear whether any criminal complaints have been made with the Fort Worth Police Department concerning the incident.
