Wrecker driver dies after being hit by vehicle on Fort Worth freeway
A tow truck driver died after being hit by a vehicle that fled the scene early Monday morning, police said.
The incident happened shortly after midnight in the 7400 block of Interstate 35W, according to authorities.
The wrecker operator was identified as Arlington resident Charles McGough, 51, by the Tarrant County medical examiner.
McGough was trying to load a vehicle onto a flatbed tow truck, police Capt. J.K. Driver said via email.
He was operating the controls on the driver’s side of his wrecker when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene, Driver said. McGough was pronounced dead at the scene just before 12:30 a.m.
Police are still investigating, Driver said.
