The man who was arrested at the end of a standoff with police after he shot at his girlfriend on Tuesday made threats to police over the phone during the incident, said police spokesman Buddy Calzada.

Drake Alan Tucker, 30, was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Calzada said he didn’t have a transcript of the threats Tucker made to police and didn’t want to misquote them.

After shooting at his girlfriend in her parked vehicle shortly before 7:30 a.m., Tucker engaged police in a standoff that lasted almost until noon, although he wasn’t inside the house on the 8500 block of Willow Creek Court that police surrounded, police said.

Police, including SWAT, used flash-bangs and tear gas grenades at the house, but Tucker was arrested shortly before noon on South Crowley Road about two miles south of the house on Willow Creek Court. More than 40 police units arrived at the scene over the course of the morning.

Tucker was on foot when he was arrested, Calzada said. Police said they don’t know how he made it from the crime scene to the place where he was arrested.

Tucker wasn’t armed at the time of his arrest, police said. On Tuesday, police said there were guns inside the house they’d surrounded.

Court records show that Tucker was charged but not indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Tarrant County in December 2017.
