A man shot in the head last week at a car wash has died at a local hospital, authorities said Tuesday.

A search for the gunman continued.

The victim was identified as Raymond Lopez, 43, of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website. He died at 11:21 a.m. Sunday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, the website states.

He died from the gunshot wound to the head, and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

The shooting call went out to police shortly before 12:30 a.m. June 18 at 4118 Mansfield Highway.

"Officers found the male victim at the car wash," police Capt. Jerry Cozby told the Star-Telegram last week. "We don't know what he was doing there at that hour."

The victim was sitting in a vehicle when officers discovered him, police said Tuesday.

Lopez had served time in prison twice since 2000, according to Tarrant County criminal court records. In December 2000, he was sentenced to 12 years for robbery and assault on a public servant. In June 2013, he was sentenced to four years in prison for evading arrest, according to court records.
