Body of missing autistic child found in Kaufman County pond
Searchers discovered the body of a missing autistic boy early Monday in a pond near his home in Talty, about 30 miles east of Dallas, authorities said.
Six-year-old Dalton Robertson, who had no verbal skills, had been missing for more than eight hours before his body was found early Monday. A ruling on his death is awaiting an autopsy.
His parents told deputies with the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office that their son, who was wearing a pull-up diaper and possibly black rubber boots, walked out of their home in Talty shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
A 911 call went out shortly before 6 p.m., and a search was launched by air and ground from several local fire departments, law enforcement agencies and volunteers.
Kaufman County is more than 60 miles southeast of Fort Worth.
