1 wounded, 5 detained as shots fired at officers during fight at large Fort Worth party
One person was wounded and five people were detained early Sunday during a fight at a large party in a residential neighborhood where officers reported someone fired shots at them, police said.
No officers were injured in the melee, which was reported shortly after 1 a.m. in the 8200 block of Boulder Canyon Trail in south Fort Worth.
"While officers were on the scene obtaining control of the incident, shots were fired," Officer Daniel Segura said Sunday in an email. "Officers believe that the shots may have been directed towards them."
Police said a man suffered a superficial gunshot wound to the head. The man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Five people were detained at the party, which police estimated at nearly 400 people.
Officers stopped a vehicle fleeing the scene, and several of the five who were detained were in the vehicle.
Police did not release any other details on the shooting or whether officers returned fire.
An investigation continued Sunday into the incident.
