24-year-old killed in single-vehicle wreck was a Marine stationed in Fort Worth

The man who died in a single-vehicle crash near Westover Hills early Friday morning loved to work on airplanes.

Ethan Woolwine, 24, was a Marine Corps mechanic stationed at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base with Marine Aircraft Group 41.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office identified Woolwine Friday as the 24-year-old who was thrown from the truck he was driving along Roaring Springs Road early in the morning.

"He was a fine young man," said Lori King, who was a youth minister to Woolwine before he enlisted in the Marines. "He had a great servant heart."

Both Fort Worth police and Westover Hills police responded to the scene of the crash that occurred at about 12:40 a.m. Friday. Woolwine was driving a beige 2001 Chevrolet pickup when it left the roadway, rolled down the embankment towards Roaring Park and into Westover Hills, said officer Jimmy Pollozani, a Fort Worth police spokesman.

Police found the truck facing north.

Woolwine was living in North Texas while he was stationed at NAS Fort Worth with his wife and two sons. To his three sisters, though, King said, "he was the baby brother."

Woolwine called Appomattox, Virginia home.

Woolwine was pronounced dead at the scene and was the truck's only occupant. The medical examiner's office listed his cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest.
