A suspected drunken driver was in custody Wednesday after police say he led them on a high-speed chase Tuesday night and crashed into a parked Dallas patrol car, injuring an officer.

The chase began about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Carrollton when an officer attempted to stop a suspected drunken driver. The motorist refused to stop and led police on a high-speed chase through Carrollton and Dallas

Minutes later, the suspect crashed into a stationary Dallas patrol car and injured an officer who was working construction traffic. The officer was treated at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and later released.

The suspect abandoned his vehicle and was later arrested.

Vargas was in the Carrollton City Jail Wednesday, facing a charge of evading arrest.
