Homeless man fatally struck by vehicle in east Fort Worth

A homeless man was fatally struck by a vehicle at Lancaster Avenue and Riverside Drive early Friday, police said.
A homeless man was fatally struck by a vehicle at Lancaster Avenue and Riverside Drive early Friday, police said.

A homeless man in his 30s or 40s was fatally struck by a vehicle east of downtown Fort Worth early Friday, police said.

The crash happened about 5 a.m. at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Lancaster Avenue. The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

He has not been identified.

The driver in the crash remained at the scene and spoke with police. The crash appeared to be an accident, said officer Jimmy Pollozani, police spokesman.
