Mom fired gunshots into crowd of teens after Everman football game, police say

Police are searching for a Fort Worth mother accused of firing gunshots into a crowd of teenagers during a fight after an Everman High School football game earlier this month, seriously wounding a 15-year-old girl.

Kontoria Davis, 39, is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Everman police Chief Craig Spencer said.

Officers obtained a warrant for her arrest on Wednesday but she is believed to have fled the city, possibly to the Palestine area.

The shooting happened about 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 3 in the 600 block of Shelby Road in Everman, where about 12 teens had gathered in a parking lot near several businesses after the Everman-Crowley game.

A fight broke out, and Davis, the mother of one of the teens, pulled out a handgun and began firing at several of the teens, Spencer said. One girl suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen and was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where she underwent surgery and was placed in intensive care.

The girl has since been released from the hospital, Spencer said.

It was unclear what started the fight. Some of the teens were Everman students and some were Crowley students, Spencer said.

Witnesses told police that Davis "was upset over the fight, and that's when she produced the handgun and began firing," Spencer said.

SWAT officers tried to execute Davis' arrest warrant at two locations Wednesday but she was not there.

Davis has previously been convicted of felony unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor assault, deadly conduct and theft, according to Tarrant County court records.
