Family uses Facebook to find suspected Parker County robber
Robbers probably should stay off Facebook, at least in Parker County.
A suspect in the $9 robbery of a Parker County woman was identified after a relative of the victim found him on the social media site, the county sheriff said Wednesday.
The suspects arrested Tuesday were Diamond Salinas, 18, of Weatherford and Tyler Tice, 20, of Saginaw. Both were in the Parker County Jail on Wednesday.
The robbery took place Monday evening on Eden Road. The victim, a 59-year-old woman, told deputies that a man later identified as Salinas walked up to her home and asked to use a telephone. She complied and he used the phone briefly.
He completed his call and walked away, but the phone rang and when the woman answered the caller asked for Salinas, deputies said. She gave Salinas the phone again.
The victim told deputies that she overheard Salinas say he would be at an apartment complex down the street. Then, he left.
About 20 minutes later, Salinas returned, rang the doorbell and brandished a gun when the victim answered. A second armed suspect later identified as Tice followed Salinas into her home and demanded money, deputies said.
The suspects fled after taking $9 in cash from a bar in the home, said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler in a news release. The victim was not injured.
Later, family members of the victim looked up the telephone number dialed by the suspect from her phone and found the suspect on Facebook, identified as “Diamond Castillo,” deputies said. He was later identified as Diamond Salinas.
Investigators later identified Tice as the other suspect.
The two face charges of aggravated robbery, Fowler said.
