Pedestrian identified in fatal crash involving Fort Worth patrol car
A 45-year-old man has been identified as the pedestrian who was hit and killed last week by a Fort Worth patrol car on a city street, authorities said Tuesday.
The victim was Leopoldo Castaneda-Solis, who died at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's website on Tuesday. A ruling on his death is pending. A hometown was not listed for Castaneda-Solis on the medical examiner's website.
An investigation into the fatal accident continued Tuesday.
"It was considered a critical police incident and as in every CPI, our major case unit and traffic investigation unit took the lead in the case," Officer Daniel Segura said Tuesday in an email. "It is up to them (the officers) if they decide to take any personal time off."
The two officers in the patrol car were traveling south in the 2700 block of Hemphill Street shortly after 7 p.m. Friday when they struck and killed Castaneda-Solis.
Police did not release any other details.
