Forest Hill video captures alleged drunken driver nearly hitting police, motorist
An alleged drunken driver almost hit Forest Hill Police Department officers and a motorist tending to a disabled vehicle on Southeast Loop 820 Thursday night, and the harrowing incident was caught on video.
Forest Hill police said that officers had responded to a disabled vehicle in a traffic lane in the 5100 block of Southeast Loop 820 Thursday night and were awaiting a wrecker.
As the group waited near the rear bumper of the disabled vehicle, another vehicle with a suspected drunken driver behind the wheel came through and side-swiped a patrol vehicle, narrowly avoiding the officers.
The vehicle slowly comes to a stop a few seconds later farther up the interstate and the officers went to remove the driver from the vehicle.
The driver, Cedric Keith Henson Jr., 26, was detained at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
No one was injured in the incident, but police said a patrol car was heavily damaged.
