Falling sword foils would-be burglar in attempted Fort Worth heist
FORT WORTH Police have arrested a suspect who was cut by a sword that fell from the wall of the residence the suspect was attempting to burglarize, according to authorities.
Police officers responded to a call about a man who was cut with a sword while fighting with another man about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the Fort Worth Police Department call log.
When officers arrived at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of South Hulen Street, a man told him that another man had forced his way inside and they began fighting, a police statement said. During the fight, the alleged burglary suspect fell against a wall and knocked down a mounted sword that was hanging there, police said.
The suspect was chased from the residence but police located him after a brief search of the area, the statement said. The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of an arm injury that is likely to require stitches and is expected to be taken to jail once his treatment is completed, police said.
