Arrest made in beating of 77-year-old man at Fort Worth convenience store
Police have arrested a suspect in the robbery and beating of a 77-year-old man at a Fort Worth convenience store this week.
Ronald Eugene Hunter, 56, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Thursday, police announced Friday. He faces a charge of aggravated robbery.
The incident happened about 3 a.m. Wednesday at a store in the 1500 block of East Berry Street, according to a police news release.
The victim had just withdrawn money from an ATM when Hunter walked inside and asked him for $5. The victim gave Hunter the money, and Hunter offered to give the victim a ride home, the news release said.
The victim agreed and got into Hunter’s car, where another person was sitting. After Hunter drove away, he and the other person are accused of beating the victim, who was found at another location, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
The second person in the car had not been arrested as of Friday afternoon.
