He had a few and took the lawnmower for a spin, officials said. It didn’t end well.
A 32-year-old Weatherford man was in custody, accused of public intoxication after a deputy responded to a report of a man driving a riding lawn mower down the road early Thursday.
The suspect was identified as Scott A. Bradley, who was arrested and issued a citation. He faces a $368 fine, according to Parker County jail records.
Bradley was arrested shorty after 12:30 a.m. at Hutcheson Hill and Carter roads.
Initially, authorities received a report of a suspicious vehicle.
As he responded to the call, Deputy Jeremy Tharp was informed that there was a man heading west on Carter Road on a riding a lawn mower, according to an arrest report.
Tharp located Bradley sitting on the riding lawn mower in a driveway in the 2100 block of Carter Road.
When the deputy activated his emergency lights, Bradley started the lawn mower and drove down the driveway.
“I told the the defendant to stop and he did,” Tharp wrote in the report.
Bradley got off the mower, stumbled, was unable to keep his balance and slurred his speech, the report states.
Bradley told the deputy he had driven from his grandmother’s home.
