An 81-year-old woman died Saturday evening after falling into a backyard pool at a Wedgwood residence, authorities said.

Billie Gaddy was in a scooter walking her dog when a wheel of the scooter got stuck and she fell into the pool at the house in the 3800 block of Minot Avenue, her grandson told WFAA.

Gaddy was pronounced dead at 7:33 p.m. Saturday at Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest in Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

A woman who identified herself as Gaddy’s daughter said her mother had dementia, was blind in one eye and “did have trouble driving into things and hitting things.”

The cause and manner of her death were pending Monday. —Monica S. Nagy
