A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon after he tried to pass a car on a two-way highway in Fort Worth, authorities said.
According to preliminary information, the motorcyclist was attempting to pass a woman’s car on Texas 114 near Harriet Creek Drive while another car was coming, said Cpl. Tracey Knight, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman.
The man hit the side of the oncoming car and died at the scene at about 3:30 p.m., Knight said.
Fort Worth firefighters performed a quick extrication to free the woman from her car, Battalion Chief Richard Harrison said.
An ambulance took her to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth in serious, but stable condition, MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said.
Investigators were still on scene at 5 p.m. Sunday.
The man was identified as John Anderson, 72, of Graham, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Monday.
