911 caller saw ‘blood on the street’ at scene of Crowley double slaying

A man who discovered one of the two teens who were found shot dead in Crowley on Saturday told police that he saw blood on the street, according to a recording of his 911 call.

The caller told the dispatcher that he saw a body near the pool next to the playground just north of Bicentennial Park.

“Yeah, there was actually blood coming from the person’s mouth,” the man said.

The man said he did not want to exit his vehicle because he feared that someone might be trying to lure him into a trap.

“I don’t know if it’s a fake body,” the caller said.

Police responded to an investigation call shortly after 11:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Hutchins Drive and found two teens dead at the edge of the road.

The caller remained at the scene until police arrived.

Police are still investigating and no arrests have been made. They have not released a motive for the shootings or any additional details. Investigators with the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office are assisting.

The teens were identified as Edgar Ramirez, 17, and Matthew Lemus, 19.

Ramirez was going to be a senior at Crowley High School, and Lemus had graduated from there in 2016, a Crowley school district spokesman said. Ramirez died of shotgun wounds to the head and left arm, and Lemus died of shotgun wounds to the chest, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.
