Fort Worth police officer injured in wreck
A patrol officer was injured Thursday morning when a pickup hit his vehicle on Interstate 30 in west Fort Worth, police said.
The 27-year veteran of the Fort Worth Police Department was taken to a hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, police Cpl. Tracey Knight said in an email. Police did not identify the officer.
The wreck occurred about 7:15 a.m. on eastbound I-30 near Alta Mere Drive.
The officer was responding to a report of an abandoned vehicle on the highway, police said. When he found it, he turned on his emergency lights, slowed down and began to pull over behind the car when his vehicle was hit, police said.
The pickup driver stopped immediately, police said. He suffered minor injuries.
No citations had been issued, but authorities continued to investigate.
