Fort Worth woman beaten, sexually assaulted in ‘especially heinous’ home invasion

A woman was bound, beaten and sexually assaulted by two suspects early Thursday in east Fort Worth after answering her front door to help somebody who appeared in distress, police said.

Investigators are searching for the suspects, a man and a woman who stole the victim’s debit card.

“We’re concerned that they might strike again,” robbery detective Brian Raynsford said Thursday night at a news conference.

Raynsford said the incident happened just after midnight in the 6000 block of Boca Raton Boulevard.

The victim, who is in her mid-20s, heard a knock at her front door and saw a woman standing outside. The victim “was under the impression the female was in distress and needed help,” a police news release said.

After the victim answered the door, a man joined the woman outside and the two forced their way into the home at gunpoint, Raynsford said. They began beating the victim, and then bound her and demanded property, including her debit card personal identification number.

During that time, the victim was also sexually assaulted, Raynsford said.

“It looked like she was just trying to do the right thing,” Raynsford said. “And she was victimized for it.”

The suspects later went to multiple locations and used the victim’s debit card, including at a convenience store, where surveillance video captured one of the suspects.

The video, which was released by police Thursday night, also showed the suspects’ light-color, older-model Chevrolet Suburban with paper tags.

Raynsford called the incident “especially heinous.” He said the suspects were at the victim’s home for more than an hour, which is unusual in robberies.

“What happened to this victim was not quick,” Raynsford said. “I imagine the emotional toll is going to be extensive.”

Both suspects are black and 30 to 40 years old. The man was wearing baggy clothes and has short shaved hair. The woman has short, curly hair and was wearing glasses.
