Storms to arrive in Tarrant County later than expected
After a balmy spring day with temperatures in the 80s, Wednesday night could prove unsettling: showers and thunderstorms are expected after 11 p.m., in Tarrant County, meterologists said.
The severe weather threat will be low in Tarrant County, but storms with large hail and damaging winds could hit counties north and west of Fort Worth.
“There could be severe storms in the northwest, but as they move east and northeast and into the Metroplex, we expect the storms to fall apart,” ” said WFAA meteorologist Colleen Coyle on Wednesday.
A cold front arrives Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast is cloudy with a 50 percent chance of rain.
“A broken line of storms is also expected along the cold front that will move through late this evening and overnight,” said WFAA meteorologist Greg Fields. “There is a low severe threat with this round of storms. All storms should be over before sunrise tomorrow.”
Rainfall totals could be from a trace to a quarter-inch, according to the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth.
Fields predicted cooler temperatures — mid-40s to lower 60s on — along with wind Thursday.
The rest of the week look dry with morning temperatures in the 50s and high temperatures in the 70s during the day for the Palm Sunday weekend.
Chances for rain will be 20-30 percent Monday night and Tuesday.
