Severe weather possibly headed for North Texas
Here comes the severe weather in Tarrant County — maybe.
A cold front is set to arrive Wednesday, bringing some chances for showers and thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.
“Some storms could have large hail and winds of at least 60 mph,” Eric Martello, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, said Tuesday. “Those storms could be largely scattered.”
Tuesday was breezy and warm with temperatures in the mid-80s.
North Texas had its first severe-weather alerts last weekend in counties to the north and west of Fort Worth, but there’s a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Tarrant and Dallas counties on Wednesday night.
Before any storms, residents will see partly sunny skies and temperatures in the lower 80s. The cold front is expected to arrive late Wednesday, and the storms could develop ahead of it.
The storms will move across North Texas quickly. Forecasters don’t predict any rain Thursday, but temperatures will drop to the mid-60s.
The rain chances vanish for a few days, and springlike temperatures will be around for the rest of the week. Residents will wake up to temperatures in the mid-40s to lower 50s and then will have temperatures in the 70s during the day.
And it looks dry for the Palm Sunday weekend.
